I read a few online blogs & some art books we checked out at the library. None of these are completely new ideas, I just have to read it to trigger my memory!
First, they tried yarn paining. They mostly painted the yarn on the paper, then laid the painted yarn across their paper in different ways to make some interesting patterns.
Taite really liked her final product. She said it was her favorite picture that she made that day.
Paige did some of the yarn painting, but then went back to good ol' brush painting, which she really enjoyed.
And, she really loves painting her hands, so she painted it all different colors to make some colorful handprints. Gotta love washable paint!
Next, Taite tried some marble painting. This was fun. She said she hadn't done it since preschool. Her best 'method' was painting the actual marble with some different colors of paint, then rolling the marble across the paper (paper is just in an old jellyroll pan which washed off very easily.)
Like the yarn painting, this also made a pretty patterned picture when she was done:
Paige's final product looks a little different. She put blobs of paint on the paper, then moved the marble around:
Lastly, Taite tried some dropper painting. She really over-did it with this technique, but she had fun. We just thinned out some tempera & she sucked up the paint with the dropper & she dropped it all over her paper. When she was done, she had one WET paper! ;)
